Being sick this weekend did give me a chance to catch up on a few movies.

1. Fifty Pills - Darren's a college student who gets in trouble thanks to his roommate Coleman, and is in danger of not being able to return next semester since his scholarship was canceled. So in an attempt to raise tuition money, Coleman gives Darren 50 ecstasy pills and he has a day to sell them all. He runs into plenty of characters during the day. From a dominatrix to a Korean drug dealer. The movie is kind of funny.

2. Mem-o-re - I thought the idea behind this movie was interesting. Memories are stored and passed down through our genes. So when Taylor gets exposed to a strange substance used in some Native Indian ritual, he starts experiencing the memories of some serial killer from before he was born. It becomes this mystery he tries to solve. Interesting idea and the movie has good actors, but it's sort of slow going and it ends predictably. It was ok, but it had potential to be better.

3. Miss Potter - Lovely movie with Rene Zellweger. She plays Beatrix the writer of the children's books we've all read. She's an unconventional woman for her time prefering independence over settling for a life not of her own doing. She believes she's never marry, but when he meets and spends time with Norman, her feelings change. She's a successful, independent children's book author who does what she feels is right for her which in turn sometimes goes against what her parents desire for her. Even so, she does what she thinks is right.

4. Ils - This is a french film based on true events. Clementine and Lucas live in this huge house on lots of land. One night Clementine wakes up to find they're not alone in the house. And so begins their night of terror. Not knowing who or what is after them, they hide, run and try to get away. I think the end is probably the scariest part of all just knowing something like this happened.

5. Freedom Writers - I enjoyed watching this movie. The story is great and interesting. Even though the movie is good, you know this type of movie will always be compared to Dangerous Minds....teacher doing everything in her power to engage and save her students.

6. The Messengers - Don't watch this movie. It has good actors in it, but it's dumb and boring. From the previews you think one thing is going to happen, when it's not like that at all.
