Last night I went to see R Show at Bellas Artes.
It was absolutely GREAT and made the hell that was the 2 hours before the show all worth it. A quick note on that: The person I was planning on going with couldn't go and I had 2 hours to see if anyone else wanted to come with. I called everyone in my phone and of course people weren't picking up, but a couple did call back. Mainly people were like "A dance show? What do you mean?" :)

Yes, R Show was a dance show. The title is a play on words. When you say it you hear "Our Show". Taken from the show's booklet it says "Nuestro Espectaculo, no esta centrado en un artista principal, cantante o historia, sino en "nuestro" mundo. Este gira en torno a como es percibido el mundo en la mente de un bailarin." R Show is the brain child of Danny Lugo. It takes 20 pro PRican dancers on a fantastical journey. I'm not going to pretend I know who he is or the other dancers. I know nothing of the dance world :) Even so, it really was like stepping into another world through the dancing, costumes and music.
From the first step into the lobby you begin to feel the surrealness of the show through the mystically-dressed people walking around...even on stilts. :) Then the show starts off with a mime like ring master making you laugh and presenting the show. Let the dancing begin! Dancing, Dancing, DANCING! :) The dancing, the costumes, the music and the sets were awesome. Extremely visual and colorful. I loved the Roisin Murphy "Ramalama" dance, the salsa, ballet, loved the tap dancing and the huge hip hop finale.
I'm glad I went. It was a very enjoyable time :)
Super cool Jeny! Felicidades!
