Ever get that feeling you've lost a day? Today is friday and I keep thinking it's saturday. I went out last night and because of it now I feel like I lost a whole day. First I went out to Lupis to celebrate a friend's bday and later on I met up with some friends in Old San Juan. We stopped by Pink Skirt of course.
..
..
It was packed last night. At first it seemed a bit dangerous to be trying to dance because there were these 2 dudes there that were just flailing around like crazy. One of them seriously looked like he was doing aerobics and at one point he actually fell flat on his ass...Splat! Of course he got up and pretended it was all part of his excellent dancing :) When he'd get tired, he'd just sit down and take a nap. It was definitely funny to watch.

When strange things aren't happening to me, you can usually find me watching a movie. I don't really get to the actual theaters that much, but I rent often and there's always cable.
Jackass 2 - I couldn't stop laughing and feeling grossed out at the same time. I think everyone's had the same reaction to that horse scene. But my favorite moment was when Wee-Man goes flying off in the swampchute bit. Hilarious!
Lucky Number Slevin - This took 2 days to watch. Not because it's a bad movie...it's actually quite good, but I had a few interruptions.
Silent Hill - I didn't think I would like this movie, but I did. I don't think it's scary at all, but gross, intense and non-stop. I never played the game, but the movie is cool.
Junebug - Indep. movie. It's ok...kinda slow. About a couple who go down to her husband's home town in NC and she's kind of out of her element. She's there to scout some artist and at the same time meet her in-laws. There are family issues getting to what's more important in life. It's supposed to be a comedy drama I guess. The funniest part is the mentally challenged artist she's scouting.
How To Lose Your Lover - Hm...I don't know. I didn't like it, but didn't hate it either. It's dumb. Some guy is sick of living in LA. He feels stuck and wants to leave, so he burns all his bridges. On his way out he meets a woman he thinks he could have a future with, so he stays and realizes in the end he's in love with his roommate. Blah.
Akeela And The Bee - Good movie. Angela Bassett, Lawrence Fishbourne, spelling bee drama...what more do you need?
Friends With Money - Boring ass movie. Maybe it's just me, but I don't know how this movie did so well in the festivals. Sure, it has Jennifer Aniston, Joan Cusack and a whole bunch of other people, but it's boring. The movie ended and I though "that was it?...Ok"
The Ice Harvest - Ok, from one movie where nothing happens to a movie where there's a lot going on, but still not really catching my interest. The movie's all right John Cusack's a lawyer for the mob who gets in trouble when mob money goes missing and who has a thing for the lady that runs the strip club. Yeah, the movie allows itself to be watched, but maybe I wasn't in the mood to see it when I did. It's ok.
Twin Sisters - I saw this on cable. Sisters get separated when their parents die and lead completely different lives leading up to the Holocaust. One is taken to Holland, the other stays in Germany and they don't hear from each other for years. They reunite and one sister doesn't like what the other has turned into and decides she can't be a part of that. Differences tear them apart and as old ladies they try reconcile. Good long movie.

October is here! Many things happen in the month of October.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For Catholics it's the month of the rosary. Columbus Day holiday is coming up. The baseball post season is on. Of course there's always Halloween. And with that comes the ever so popular candy corn. This is the one time a year where you have absolutely no problem finding this yummy treat in the stores. If it's past October and you get a craving for candy corn, good luck finding some.
So look what my brother bought me:

It's a candy corn candle. This I'd never seen before and it made me laugh. It smells really good too, but not really like candy corn. It has a more butterscotch scent to it...very sweet smelling. So I'm a little hesitant to burn it because then my room will smell of candy and I'll probably get a headache :)

Yet another strange event in my life:
Last night I went out with 2 friends who will remain nameless. :) But you know who you are! After a couple of drinks and shots, I felt they were more wasted out-of-their-heads than I was which is fine. So we end up at Pink Skirt out of someone elses suggestion, not mine. We were there for a while when I had to use the bathroom. So I go and when I come back, they were gone. I look all around and nothing. It was one hell of a disappearing act. So I thought, "WTF? Well, I guess I have a few options....call someone up who'd be awake at almost 5am, call a taxi or hitch a ride with someone I know here". In the end I did get a ride from Yanira and Carlitos who work there, so it was all good. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Needless to say it was quite late (or early depending on how you look at it) when I went to bed...around 8am only to be woken up at 10am by my friend calling to apologize for inadvertently ditching me. I was like, "Where'd you go? What happened?" and the conclusion was they have no idea what happened. They don't remember. So I wasn't just left there by myself, I was completely forgotten about like a kid at a supermarket. It's all good though. I told my friend not to give it another thought and now we're even (in reference to the previous time we went out and I behaved like a total ass).
I guess there's a first time for everything, right? Right.

My dvd drive died last night. That was LOADS of fun, let me tell you!
I was right in the middle of using it when it seemed to have gotten stuck in it's process. After that it just didn't want to read any sort of dvd media no matter what it was. If it was a dvd, it didn't even recongize there was a disc in there. Now, if you placed a cd disc in, it worked fine. This pissed me off and after reading about this sort of problem online, I was majorly pissed off. Apparently this is a common problem for multi-function drives. If you're lucky only one part of the drive will become unusable and the other will continue to work...which is what happened to me.
Having to go out and spend money on a new drive wasn't something I was planning on doing. Oh well. So I bought one, installed it and so far so good. I sometimes think my computer hates me, so it's just a matter of time before something else happens. Oh and I managed to cut my finger somewhere along the installation process. My finger looks like that damn neosporin commercial with a nice red diagonal slash on it. Lovely.

Just a quick update on my backyard. Well, some people came over and got rid of all the sod, dirt and what not that came down a few weeks ago. I wasn't here when they did it so, no cool pictures of that. But this is what my yard looks like now:

Yes there's still a huge hole under the tarp and the grass is destroyed, but there's no point in growing it back since construction is bound to start to fix the hill. I have no idea when that'll be.

Puerto Rico finally get to enjoy America's Next Top Model at the same time as everyone else. That's thanks to the UPN and WB merger spawning the new channel CW.
Tonight was the first episode of the new season. Oh the drama...the drama and tears galore. hahahaha! One thing I noticed is the contestants look younger and younger. I mean, sure there's always teens and early 20something year olds, but some of these girls look 16. Just an obversation.

1st stop: Galaxy Lanes. That's the bowling alley at the mall.
2nd stop: James Zabiela party at Pure. When we got there, there were many people who'd gone to the the Coors Light Catwalk party, so it was pretty packed....just like I thought it would be.

I'm planning on going to the James Zabiela party at Pure tomorrow night. Should be fun as long as they don't turn off the air conditioning like they did for DJ Baby Anne & AndyC. That was very bad. Anyway, it's kind of funny how I got a free ticket to an invite only shindig.
I'd known about the party for a while and only recently found out it was by invite only. So I was thinking I wouldn't go. Then earlier this week I get an email from this nightlife webpage announcing the party. So I check it out and see that all you had to do was register at the Heineken page to see if you'd get invited. It also said the "chosen ones" would be selected on the first week of Sept. So I thought, "ah, what the hell...selection is over, but I don't lose anything by registering". So I did and the next day I got an email invite. All righty then.
I also checked out the list of invited people and there's no way that list is going to fill up Pure. For those of you who haven't been there, the dance floor is gianormous. What I think will happen is they'll probably open the party up to the public for like 20 bucks or something like that. They're gonna have to do something because if not they're definitely going to lose money. Whatever happens, I have a free ticket so I'm good :)

After a break I decided that yesterday I was going to have a drinking fest. My mission was to have fun and most likely end up with a slight memory problem. Went to Pink Skirt and...Mission accomplished. :)

This shot actually put me over the top. Can we say blackout?

I even ran into high school friends.

Lately I haven't been watching tv. Actually, my tv is typically off during the day and I might turn it on to movie channels as I go to bed. Everything on it is either a repeat of something I've already seen or some crap show. I'm not even looking forward to the new sitcom season. Why do I want to get all hooked on new shows when they're just going to get canceled after one season? Creativity outside of blood, cops or reality shows hardly last.
The only thing I have been watching constantly is the US Open. This was Agassi's last tournament. I definitely grew up watching him play. Do you remember when he first bursted onto the tennis scene? He was all about the long, bleached-dyed hair with those bad grayish-acid washed shorts. Wow. I always liked him better than Sampras. Sampras was always so dry and predictable. Great player, but serve and volley gets boring to watch.
Agassi always had more emotion out there. Today was no different. He played and didn't give up. Unfortunately, he's didn't win the match and he's off to retirement now, but he's still one of the greats. He made everyone cry afterwards when he couldn't hold his emtions in anymore. I don't know if any of the players out there now can connect with the crowds in the same style as a Connors, McEnroe or Agassi. I mean, they're great players...you root for them, but it's not the same.

Well, you know it's rained too much when the hill behind your house ends up in your backyard. It's been raining all day today. The sun only came out for about 5 minutes around 4pm. The last couple of days have been rainy too, but not in the excess that has been today. This landslide happened before...maybe about 2 years ago, but not this big. And of course we got the run-around from the neighborhood committee and developers as far as who's responsible for the clean up. This is way too much to let that happen again so we called immediately as the earth came sliding down.
I actually thought it was hilarious. Not that a landslide is funny, but this one was. See my mother looks out the door and tells me that the backyard is flooding. We have an extra drainage system under there, but it's just been raining too much. So jokingly I say "Ah! Se cayo el talud!" (which means the hill came down). No joke...not even 30 seconds after I laughingly said that, the hill came sliding down right infront our eyes! My mother screamed, I laughed.
So this is what our backyard currently looks like:

I just finished watching Kinky Boots and immediately told Jo Ann that it's a must see. :)
Loved the movie! It's about Charlie Price who is stuck running the family business (a shoe factory) after his father's death. As luck would have it he meets Lola, a drag queen singer-performer extraordinaire, and is inspired to change their product (after Lauren suggested it) in an attempt to save the business. They go from formal men's shoes to flamboyant, excellent, ass-kicking drag queen boots. There are of course deeper themes, but that's what starts everything.
It has an awesome cast too. Joel Edgerton plays Charlie. You might remember him as Owen Lars from Star Wars and Gawain from King Arthur. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Lola and has also been in Inside Man, Love Actually and Four Brothers. Jemina Rooper plays Charlie's fiance, Nicola. I seem to be seeing a lot of her lately on BBC America. She's on a show called Hex...well, was because I think it only lasted 2 seasons and the 1st one just ended. And Lauren is played by Sarah-Jane Potts who appeared in Felicity (Loved that show!), NYPD Blue and is now on Sugar Rush.
Great cast, awesome and completely entertaining movie.

Last night we went to Kudeta for Yaretzza's bday party. It was pretty packed. My cousin had never been there, but you never would've thought that since he knew almost everyone there!
After a couple of hours we went down the street to Pink Skirt. Severely packed! And awesome music. Of course if you read the entry below this album, the whole shoving incident happened there. No problem, I still enjoyed my night.
