Ok so, yesterday I was up and about for 24hrs straight. It was insane.

My flight was at 6am, so I woke up at 3am after only going to bed at midnight. Yes, I was plenty tired all throught the day. While in Miami there was some bathroom drama. I don't really know what happened, but it seemed there was a woman in hemeraging in one of the stalls. All I know is that when I went in, one of the airport employees said, "The paramedics are on their way". I happen to sit next to this lady's friend at the gate and heard they were on their way to the hospital. What was f*ck'd up was that she didn't see the urgency of the situation. Her friend is bleeding tons in the bathroom and she was all calm. Sure, it could've been nothing, but people can die from severe menstrual bleed if it doesn't get under control.

Anyway. I made it to DC fine and Chris picked me up at the metro. After that we headed out to the wedding rehersal. Saying we got lost is an understatement :) I mean, getting to the place shouldn't have taken so long, but somehow we managed to miss Beach Dr......TWICE. We ended up taking Conneticut Ave. all the way down until it ended into a neighborhood. Then we took it all the way almost into the city. It was crazy. We finally made it and rehersal was pretty much over. So we went to the rehersal dinner. Somehow Chris and I managed to miss the restaurant also :) It was a night of getting lost apparently.

After the yummy dinner we went to Barking Dog in Bethesda to meet up with some friends. Of course there they had some idiot bouncer who I'm probably older than him and we was giving me crap about my PR driver's licence. Give me a break! He said something like "we only accept valid US ids." I could've totally gone off on the dude and I started to, but he said "oh just go in...I don't feel like I headache tonight". WHAT AN ASS! I was so pissed off. Thanks for the discrimination ASIAN bouncer!

We stayed till midnight and then headed back to VA. By then I was completely passing out in the car. I had all intensions of going to bed, but after I changed into my PJ's, we ended up at Shawns house for a couple of hours. Finally made it back to the house and played some XBOX while we laughed our asses off.

And that's how I ended up awake for 24 hours straight.

Prachee and Charles were in PR for 1 day :) They had a layover on their way to their vacation destination and they stayed with me. We went to Old San Juan that night, had a couple of drinks and some good conversation. It was a short visit, but still good to see them :)

Unsolicited Advice: advice given to you without you asking for any advice. Typically it's given with the best of intentions with the idea to help.

I get this all the time in regards to my career path (or should I say the lack there of). I understand that people are just trying to help, but they act as if I haven't heard everything under the stars or thought of it myself already. I hate having the same conversation over and over again so I avoid this topic like the plague. Sometimes it's not so easy and when you meet new people you go through the typical conversational pieces. So I'm well versed in my answers. I still don't like it, but I'm polite and try to change the topic as fast as I can. There are times however, that it's just too much and I'm not as polite.

This is me on the phone listening to yet another person giving me unsolicited career advice and a time where I wasn't as polite. I think the silence on my end let the person know how I felt and the conversation ended quickly after that.

People, you can't fix me or force me into something I don't want to do. Thank you, but no thanks. I'll figure this one out on myself.

I'm so glad the week is over. It's friday night and I dont' have to deal with the kiddies till monday. HOORAY!!!

Overall, camp is going well. It's just that there are times where it seems that all the kids are fighting, crying, pushing, complaining and misbehaving in general all at once. That's what this week felt like. It might be that they feel quite comfortable with us now so they went a little buckwild on us. They're great kids, but it all can be a bit draining (think twice about having kids people...seriously). It's been so tiring at times that I've been in bed asleep by 9:30pm. That's crazy....so not Suzy behavior :)

There was one incident that disturbed me just a tad. Almost at the end of the day, this kid was playing by himself all calm. Then this other kid comes up to him and blows away whatever was infront of him. The first kid gets pissed off and pushes him hard and falls scraping his knee. I happen to catch all this and punished both kids. Inbetween sorting it all out, the pusher says to me that he wished he was a cop so that he could have a gun and shoot the other kid in the heart. I was so shocked by this, I was like dumbfounded for like 30 seconds. Ok, the fact that he "wants to kill" this other kid is a red flag in itself. But the way he put it...so specific and to the point, now that was disturbing. And all this from the mouth of a 7 year old. I so don't want to run into him 20 years from now.

Anyway.

After my brother's graduation, we went to a mexican restaurant called Margaritas which is on Ave. Roosevelt. Food was good, dessert was great and then it started to pour outside. It seemed to come out of nowhere because the day had been nice (extremely hot, but nice). This is what the street looked like when we were trying to leave:

]

Oh and the dessert we had is called 4 Cucharaditas which translates into 4 teaspoons...but the only thing small about this desert is the cherry on top:

Contents from bottom to top: brownie covered in chocolate crunch syrup, dulce de leche, topped with a huge vanilla ice cream scoop covered with more chocolate syrup and dulce de leche, cajeta cookies on the sides and whipped cream, topped off with more whipped cream and a cherry.

For the month of June, I'm working at a summer camp and the first day has just ended. Right now I have 16 boys in my group. I don't know if they're all staying for the whole month or are going to be rearranged. They seemed to enjoy themselves with their activities and was it ever hot out there.

Hopefully, they'll be well behaved or as best they can behave throughout the month. Today wasn't bad. Definitely tiring, but not bad. The hours actually went pretty quickly. Of course you always have that one kid who cries at everything. Yup. My crier started the day crying because another kid took his hat back. Then he cried playing checkers, and yet again when he lost at musical chairs, and even more crying when he got hit accidentally on the air house bouncy thing.

I so would be done for the day, but I still have things to do. :)

Well, this past weekend was one long ass weekend. Every year on this holiday weekend, we go off to some hotel for a medical convention. This year the convetion was in Dorado. Good food, lots to drink and many fun times were hand under the sun and moon. I even summoned the spirit of Hoss and Percolator and did a little cone dancing last night :)

1st Stop: Double Team Sports Bar - It was pretty chill until it got really really packed.

2nd Stop: Pure - We got there just in time to hear Baby Anne play a couple of song before she finished. Then AndyC came on and it was quite awesome. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the people in charge (I guess) had turned the air conditioning off in the section of Pool Palace. That completely didn't make sense to me especially since the dance floor is where the majority of people were at. It was so hot in there, it was like a sauna.

3rd Stop: Pink Skirt - Always a good time.

After 2 weeks of feeling everything from a sore throat to sneezing all day to coughing all night, I am finally feeling normal again. Yes, apparently that night where I got drenched listening to La Oreja De Van Gogh (and later hanging out in a really cold bar with someone who was already sick) made me sick. There's still some residualness if you know what I mean, but I am ready to go. I need to be out and about. I love my house, but yeah...gotta get out.

So....Let's go out tonight! What are the fun plans for the evening?

List of movies I've seen recently:

  1. Brokeback Mountain
  2. Transamerica
  3. Rumor Has It
  4. Pretty Persuasion
  5. Keeping Mum
  6. Shopgirl
  7. Everything Is Illuminated
  8. Just Like Heaven
  9. Aeon Flux
  10. Annapolis
  11. Saving Face

Entertaining and good most of them. I don't particularly recommend Shopgirl. Even though it has Claire Danes and Steve Martin, it's a v-e-r-y slow movie and quite uneventful.

Happy 5 de Mayo 2006!

Last night we celebrated 5 de Mayo...you know, just an excuse to go out and party :)
Our first stop was a small bar near my house called 20-20. I don't know why it's called that. We had a few drinks and chatted with the people there and then we were off to our 2nd destination, Shannan's Pub. It cracks me up...PRicans celebrating a Mexican holiday (or a supposed holiday) in an Irish pub. :) Shannan's was good. It wasn't packed while we were there which was great. Around 11pm everyone was pretty good and toasty so we headed out. I didn't want to go home yet, so I met up with other friends and continued on to Old San Juan. Now that was packed! We were sitting in traffic trying to get into OSJ for like an hour. We were like "F*ck it! Let's park here and walk". It was a nice long walk, but there wasn't going to be parking inside anyway. It was cool. So we headed up to Cafe San Sebastian where apparently they had run out of beer. That's how many people were there and it just took forever to try and get a drink. We then headed to Pink Skirt which is always good. I even ran into some people from my high school there. Good 5 de Mayo celebrations I'd say :)

Happy Birthday Darren!

So here's the skinny on digital cameras: They don't like water. :)

My camera: Pentax Optio S4. I didn't think my camera got that wet on tuesday. I protected it as best I could and my left side wasn't as wet as my right. It worked all through the night till we left Pink Skirt. But it was already acting funny by the end. Now, the camera powers on and all the buttons work, but it won't take pictures. That's the only button that refuses to work.

I'm surprised my camera lasted as long as it did. I didn't mistreat it or anything...or atleast not on purpose. I've had it since 2001 I believe. First of all, it was already slightly used when I got it. Then, it's survived many Dabu parties and even a pretty high fall for a camera complements of Chris. It was sitting peacefully on a restaurant table and drunk Chris when to give someone a hug. He accidentally hit my camera and knocked it off the table.

The only time it acted weird was this past October. Sumo Suzy had too much to drink and according to friends, liquids had been spilled on it. It survived and kept working. Since then, though, changes in temperature haven't been a good thing. And I guess it just had enough. So if no miracle happens, I should start looking into getting a new one.

I like Pentax. Anyone want to give me a free digital Pentax camera? :)
